As the song says, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” and I want to share a simple story that has brought me great joy. This year, I broke my tradition of not decorating for the holidays until after Thanksgiving and sought help. Yes, I had someone come and decorate my Christmas tree and front porch on Nov. 7. What usually takes me three days took three hours! I could not believe my eyes. What beauty she created with my decorations!
The greatest joy was realizing by asking for help, I gave Kristen, the decorator, the opportunity to use her gifts. As she said, “I love decorating and taking the stress out of your holidays so you can give more time to your family.”
Watching her enjoy her gift of decorating helped me realize how important it is to let others help you, and, in so doing, letting their unique gifts shine.
This holiday season, I know as TMA Alliance members you will let your lights shine as you give your gifts of love, laughter, and friendship to all those in your family and the Family of Medicine.
May your holidays be merry and bright during this “most wonderful time of the year!”
Stay Connected. Stay Strong. Renew Now.
As you’re making your to-do list in December, be sure to include renewing your TMAA membership (if you haven’t already done so). The alliance is a growing, vibrant community that supports physician families across Texas. Our stronger together starts with you, and we want you to help us continue to make a difference in 2026.
By renewing your membership, you also help your alliance get one member closer to receiving $500 – an award for alliances that renew 95% of their members. Here are three ways to renew:
Follow the link from the email you received from TMAA in early October (takes you directly into your account) of click the “renew” button on the TMAA website.
Call the TMA Knowledge Center at (800) 880-7955 with credit card information and to update changes to your phone number, address, or email.
Return the application form you received in the mail, along with your check.
When you renew, be sure TMAA has your personal email address (not one you share with your spouse) so you don’t miss important updates.
Texas Strong: Together at ALLMED
Plan now to escape to the coast for ALLMED, where you
can learn, grow, and serve alongside fellow physician spouses and families (and have lots of fun). The ALLMED Committee is planning a weekend to remember April 16-18, 2026, in Corpus Christi. Be part of the energy when the
Family of Medicine from across Texas comes together for ALLMED, TMAA’s annual physician spouse event, and TMA’s TEXMED conference for physicians. Check the TMAA website for details to come.
Caring for Resident Physicians
A new TMAA initiative to deliver care packages to local residency programs is enabling alliances to connect with and support resident physicians in their communities. TMAA members created care baskets during the TMAA Fall Gathering in Tyler in October to take home to share. Read more about how a small, heartfelt initiative in Tarrant County has blossomed into a statewide effort.
