During the recent TMAA Fall Gathering, more than 35 TMA Alliance members, including local presidents and leaders, gathered in Tyler to have fun and connect with friends. We played Mahjong, made welcome baskets to share with our local residency programs, and got better acquainted over dinner.
We also gleaned a wealth of information on millennial philanthropy and fundraising engagement from keynote speaker Holly Hull Miori, PhD, and enjoyed a joint session with TMA on Legislative Wins: Texas Edition. At the close of the event, I realized we TMAA members are “Living the Mission” of advocacy, service, and connection/support with great gusto!
Alliance calendars across the state are packed full of coffees, educational programs, galas, book clubs, play dates, date nights,
and community outreach events to bring us together to be a part of each other’s lives and make a difference in the lives of those in our communities. I’m excited to see and feel the energy of our members connecting, trying fresh ideas, and helping one another navigate the crazy life of medicine. It’s thrilling! And it’s the place to be!
I have experienced the magic of being a Smith County Medical Society Alliance member for 25 years! Together, we play hard, work hard, laugh together, and cry together. This magic – this special connection we have as spouses of physicians – is what keeps me coming back year after year.
So, this month with our TMAA membership renewal campaign in full swing, don’t be shy when asked if you have renewed your membership. Be robust and say, “Of course!” And if you haven’t yet renewed, now’s the time – so you can help your local alliance achieve the goal of 95% renewed (and receive a $500 bonus)! I promise you will feel TMA Alliance Proud–Texas Strong!
Tune in for Tinsel Time
As you prepare for your holiday entertaining, tune in Monday, Dec. 1, for Sleigh Your Decor: Design Tips for a Merry Holiday Season. Guest presenter Angie Tellman, visual decorator at Swann’s Furniture & Design in Tyler, will share hot holiday trends and fearless decorating using unconventional colors and objects. RSVP by Monday, Nov. 24, to receive the Zoom link for this installment of the TMAA Enrichment Series, a benefit of your annual membership.
Don’t Delay! Renew Today
If you haven’t already renewed your 2026 TMAA membership via email or Automatic Dues Renewal, you should have received a letter in the mail to renew your alliance membership. Your renewed membership ensures TMAA has a strong, united presence across Texas, so make sure you’re along again in 2026.
When you renew, be sure TMAA has your personal email address (not one you share with your spouse) so you receive alliance news through the TMAA Monthly Memo.
Share Your TMAA Pride
Once you renew your TMAA membership, it’s time to share why you’re TMA Alliance Proud–Texas Strong with another physician spouse – and invite them to be your Plus 1. You are the alliance’s best ambassador to share what the organization means to you and why membership matters.
As in previous years, anyone who brings in a first-time
member or brings back someone whose membership had lapsed since 2023 or before will receive a new TMAA swag item at ALLMED in Corpus Christi next year.
ALLMED: Mark Your Calendars
Mark your calendar to join other physician spouses (and physician families) in Corpus Christi – the Sparkling City by the Sea – April 16-18, 2026. It’s a great chance to connect with fellow alliance members for fun and learning. ALLMED, TMAA’s annual statewide physician spouse event, occurs in conjunction with TMA’s TEXMED conference for physicians.
Special Group Health PPO Options for Owners, Independents
Sponsored Content
Open Enrollment brings the opportunity to take a closer look at your health insurance coverage. For many practice owners, managers and independents, it’s also when rising premiums become a familiar frustration. However, the good news is that this is the time of year when limited special options become available. With or without employees, you may qualify for group PPO health coverage – potentially helping to improve your health insurance coverage and manage costs for yourself and your practice. See how you may qualify.
