A lot of new things are just around the corner during “Texas fall.” With students of all ages back to class and new routines established, it’s time for TMA Alliance members to check out our fall events.
First up: Discover where your local alliance is gathering to celebrate National Coffee Day. Local alliances across the state are meeting Monday, Sept. 29, at Connect Over Coffee events to renew friendships and energy and savor their favorite cup of Joe! Won’t you join us? And bring a new friend or two?
Next up: October is full steam ahead as Vice President of Membership Mercedes Dossa, and the TMAA Membership Committee roll out the new October membership renewal drive, complete with a $500 award to alliances that achieve 95% renewal!
And where are they rolling to, you might ask? To Tyler, of course, the Rose Capital of America! Gather your alliance friends and head to TMAA’s Fall Gathering Oct. 24-25 for the best road trip ever. Learning, connections, friends, and great food will be part of the fantastic experience Tyler has to offer in conjunction with the first TMA Local Medicine Matters regional conference. Don’t delay, register today!
The next few weeks are going to be an exciting time for alliance members across the state. I’m proud of all the work, and fun, we will have to keep us TMA Alliance Proud-Texas Strong!
The Power of Political Action
Tune in Tuesday, Sept. 9, for the TMA Enrichment Series presentation “The Political Muscle of TEXPAC: Delivering Wins for Medicine at the Capitol.” Brianna Menard, TMA’s director of TEXPAC and political education, will explain how the TMA Family of Medicine successfully stands up to protect patients and physicians and easy ways you and your alliance can make a difference.
RVSP by Friday (Sept. 5) to receive the Zoom link for this session of the TMAA Enrichment Series. TEXPAC is TMA’s bipartisan political arm, helping to elect medicine-friendly candidates. TEXPAC was created in 1962 and is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. Don’t miss this chance to level up your political awareness!
Volunteer to Serve TMAA is accepting nominations for its next team of strong leaders for the 2026-27 Board of Directors. If you’re interesting in taking your volunteering to the TMAA level or know someone else who would be a good fit, email TMAA the name of the person you’re nominating and the name of their local alliance by Sept. 15. The TMAA Nominating Committee will consider these candidates in October as it selects the slate of officers for the 2026-27 TMAA board.
Renew for 2026
This year, TMAA’s big renewal push will be during the month of October, with the goal of having all our 2025 members on board for 2026 during the first month of renewals. This concentrated, shortened membership renewal effort aims to give local chapters more time to focus on serving their alliance family and hometown community throughout the remainder of the year. Watch your email in mid-September for tips about renewing your membership, then respond to your first email or mail request to renew your membership for 2026.
TMAA Fall Gathering: A Rosy Affair
Everything will be coming up roses in Tyler in October and you can have a front-row seat by attending the TMAA Fall Gathering on Oct. 24-25. Friday fun includes a Mahjong lunch, Tyler Rose Museum tour, and happy hour and TMAA dinner. Saturday will include a dynamic speaker, a legislative recap, membership campaign updates and information, and more.
Check out details on the TMAA website and consider pulling together a group of your alliance friends for fun and educational weekend in Tyler. This is a great opportunity to gather with your alliance friends, especially if you live in East Texas or not far from Tyler. Register today and be sure to also reserve your hotel.
Insurance For Good

Your premium doesn’t just pay for coverage – it pays it forward.
At TMA Insurance Trust, we manage coverage and handle claims like any insurer. But what happens beyond that is what sets us apart. When there's a surplus, the funds don't go to shareholders – because we don’t have any. Instead, we pay it forward by sponsoring resources physicians actually use.
We call it Insurance for Goodbecause that’s exactly what it helps deliver:
Free CME courses that can save you hundreds each year
Confidential, free mental health counseling through Anticipate Joy
Sponsorships that keep County Medical Societies and physician networks strong
Dedicated funding for Member Sections, helping them stay active and connected
Emergency relief funds through the TMA Foundation when physicians face a crisis
These practical benefits are available to you, with no hidden costs or inflated premiums. Your TMA membership also includes exclusive insurance savings you won’t find anywhere else.
Since 1955, our focus has stayed the same: supporting Texas physicians. Through purposeful reinvestment, your insurance brings value full circle – back to you and the physician community it was created for.
